The work of Fernando Zúñiga is between realism and abstraction, among the known and unknown things. Risk is an essential part of his creative process.

Like, to transcend, the human being needs its own darkness, the work of Fernando needs danger and destruction to arise. Painting is one of his active meditations, thus becoming the endless meanings and symbols of daily ritual.

This is how Fernando describes his own process of creating:

When I paint, I get into contact with myself, with all my being, all my anger, my violence, my fears, my joy, brewing and showing up needs of freedom and oxygen.

Opening the way to a constant game that turns into a challenge between the expectations and the uncertain. Painting is an excuse to evolution, a need of continuous improvement which in turn is reflected in the evolution of the painting itself.

The moment when the hand runs itself and steps out from the eye, just in the very moment appears the juicy stuff, the most interesting thing: the authentic. What meets the eye disappears and the unseen becomes visible.”
